The Challenge
Architecture and engineering firms run on proposals — but the tools they use to build them are typically a patchwork of spreadsheets, Word documents, and tribal knowledge. Pricing is inconsistent, service definitions vary by partner, and there’s no connection between what’s being sold and the team’s actual capacity to deliver.
Our Approach
We designed and built Slantis, a web platform that unifies the proposal process with catalog management and pipeline forecasting. The system has four core modes:
- Proposal Builder — Scope and pricing tool that pulls from a shared catalog of roles, services, and offerings. Partners build proposals by selecting services and adjusting hours, with real-time fee calculations and margin visibility.
- Catalog Editor — A central place to define and maintain the firm’s roles, rate cards, service categories, and packaged offerings. Changes propagate to all future proposals.
- Pipeline View — A capacity heatmap that shows staffing demand across all active and prospective projects, broken down by role and probability stage (won, 80%, 60%, pipeline).
- Dashboard — KPI cards for won work (average TCV, duration, run rate) and a headcount FTE table showing team allocation by role and project status.
Technical Details
Built with Next.js, tRPC, and Tailwind CSS, deployed on Vercel. The platform uses a structured data model where offerings contain nested services, each tied to roles and rate cards. Drag-and-drop reordering, real-time calculations, and a catalog-to-proposal workflow keep the experience fast and friction-free.
Impact
Slantis replaced a multi-spreadsheet workflow that required manual reconciliation across business development, operations, and finance. Proposals that previously took days of back-and-forth can now be assembled in hours with consistent pricing and scope definitions.
